THE BARLEY MOW - 1060 BANK ST. - 730-1279

Great neighbourhood pubs need to be lauded. The Barley Mow on Bank at Euclid has lots of beers and ales on tap and pleasant service and an attractive atmosphere.

PICKWICK'S PUB - 35 BEECHWOOD - 742-3169

My neighborhood pub is quiet, large but with a small feel, and has an exellent list of draught, as well as live 2 guitar flamenco music on thursday nights. The bartenders pour a wicked black and tan and there is a patio out front as well. Not bad food either.

THE SWAN AT CARP - 108 FALLDOWN LANE - (613) 839-7926

If you're looking for a nice little out-of-the-way English pub and a ride in the country to get there, try The Swan at Carp.

Typical 'pub grub' is available at this nicely-set-out pub with pleasant surroundings and every third Friday evening you can get a bit of jazz with your meal courtesy of the Peter Turner Group at no extra charge.

I tried the soup of the day, a tomato-zucchini, that was very tasty and the steak and kidney pie, that is made on premises, and found it very enjoyable.

The staff is friendly and accommodating.

CLOCK TOWER PUB - BANK ST. - 233-7849

Clock Tower Pub on Bank -- on Tuesday or Wednesday, whichever it is when they have their smoked salmon creamed sauce / fettucine pasta special for lunch. Unbeatable when you add whatever in-pub-brewed cask-conditioned beer is being featured that day. Their salsa is also excellent as an appetite-whetter.

NEWFOUNDLAND PUB - 940 MONTREAL ROAD - 745-0962

Best Fish and chips in town:

The Newfoundland Pub, no comparison is possible with any other seafood establishment. They even have cheeks and tongues. And of course there's the down home atmosphere. I love it!!
