Genji Japanese restaurant located at 175 Lisgar Street (between Lisgar and Metcalfe) is my favourite Japanes restaurant.
Ottawa Citzen food critic Anne Desbrisay (April 9, 2006) said "Genji's product is fresh and carefully made. Genji sushi is very good. Likewise the tempura batter is pleasantly fragile, almost weightless, the gyoza light and tasty, and the black cod at dinner is totally delicious."
She also said "At lunch, the teriyaki beef and salmon are fine: the meat is tender, the fish fresh and nicely cooked, the teriyaki sauce balanced, not syrupy-sweet as it often is. But the winning main dish is indeed the black cod. Sometimes called butterfish, the black-skinned fish is miso-marinated, then grilled, its flesh melting in rich buttery lumps in the mouth. It comes, as do all the main dishes, with rice (fine) and vegetables."
I myself like the Fried Bananace dessert with green tea ice cream. Try it out and you will like my suggestion.
