CASABLANCA - 41 CLARENCE - 789-7855

I personally would recommend the CASABLANCA on Clarence next to Grabbajabba which is fabulous in every respect. They have some excellent specials such as the cous-cous Royale, and good service. A tad more expensive but well worth it.

DAR TAJINE - 256 PRESTON ST. - 232-4300
If you're heading to the GCTC and like Moroccan food, 20 seconds from the GCTC's front door, you'll find the Dar Tajine at the corner of Preston and Gladstone. Moroccan (but they seat you at tables and chairs, rather than the huge cushions on the floor you'll find in painfully authentic Moroccan places).

Any of the Tajines (a mix of couscous, vegs and a meat -- lamb or beef or chicken -- served in a seasoned broth and in a crockery bowl with a lid) is an excellent choice.

The requisite baklawa for dessert with a traditional coffee will send you to the GCTC very happy indeed. Their location means they get a lot of the theatre folks, so they're deadline sensitive if you tell them what time your performance starts.

Highly recommended.

KASBAH - 1542 BANK ST. - 739-9690

We recently went to the Moroccan Kasbah on Bank Street near Heron Road. It is very small, and the service is very pleasant. Although it took a long time to get our orders, we found that the food was well worth the wait.

The vegetables were tasty, the couscous wasn't sticky and the meat was tender and flavourful. The appetizers were very good too, but skip the sticky deserts. Overall we rated the food as very good especially at the price we paid. It averaged about $25 per person for an appetizer, main course and desert. Beverages were included, but no wine.
