Salvadoran Cuisine
LA CABANA - MERIVALE SOUTH OF CARLING
Very much an El Salvadoran place. Menu items we didn't try included Yucca Root and an array of unheard-of fish.
The items we did try were very tasty, if new to us: fried plantains with sour cream to dip them in, pupusas (a cross between a tortilla and a naan, stuffed with your choice of cheese, ground pork or beans), and a beef and peppers stew. Bill for four people, including two beers, was only $34.
Honesty compels me to report that the children would rather have visited Harveys. The menu didn't include any "safe" North American dishes. Closest to it was the chicken teriyaki, which disappeared down Anne's gullet pretty swiftly.
